Legacy Projects
Learn about Friends of the Prom’s (FOTP) past projects and their benefits.
Hooded Plover Monitoring
FOTP worked with Park Rangers and Birdlife Australia to manage the risks to Hooded Plovers. This work included the erection of temporary fences to provide safe havens and beach surveys to monitor breeding pairs and evidence of nesting and/or chicks.
Phytophthora Cinnamomi (PC) Monitoring
We worked with a Victorian National Parks Association (VNPA) program to monitor PC dieback at a number of sample plots at the Prom.
Preserving Historical Records
Our volunteers helped digitise Park Victoria’s library of over 850 scientific research reports and over 4,600 photographic slides. This valuable historic information will be made available to scientific researchers and land managers.
Restoration of Coastal Grassy Woodland
We were involved in a number of scientific research projects associated with Parks Victoria’s long-term program to restore the Coastal Grassy Woodland to its pre-European settlement condition.
