Under leaden skies, a large group gathered in the parks office at Tidal River with our most thoughtful ranger, Lucy. Cuppas in hands, we perused the new, informative & impressive visitor centre. It is a wonderful work in progress and will be a jewel when completed. It was then off to Darby River picnic area to meet up with Clinton and learn many things from his vast knowledge of First Nations peoples and their deep connections to the land, along with his basket of incredible and interesting artefacts. A friendly group of magpies entertained our gathering, one even blessing us at the picnic table! We then visited two middens snug in the dunes of Darby Beach, Clinton regaling us with historic stories that were heartfelt. As we enjoyed an off-track detour back to the carpark, the all-day threatening skies finally opened up as a wonderful day drew to an end. Thank you Clinton, Lucy & all who attended... a memorable day indeed.
